Not me there in that teeny weeny bikini but it could definitely be me there with the sunniest, happiest of crochet beach bags come summer. I’ve got almost millions (I haven’t) of tote bags from various launches over the years but when the sun comes out, I stop being the colourless person that takes any old bag to Tesco and start getting cravings for bags that suggest I’m about to don my Chanel sunglasses and meet fancy friends for prosecco (none of my friends drink prosecco) outdoors. I mean, a bag can say a lot about a person and I love the idea I could look like I just stepped off a speedboat to hit that (doesn’t exist) exclusive beach that nobody else knows about.
This dear bag with all its possibilities is from New Look. Not for me Melissa Odabash (bikinis the same price as holidays) or Heidi Klein – I’ll take a splash of colour that doesn’t financially bond me to using it for the rest of my entire life.
There are eight colourways for this particular design so if you like to keep things simple, there’s a plain brown or a natural shade that will go with literally anything at all. At £24 HERE, I think it’s a bit of a snip.
Also, while I’m here – if you’re baulking at the idea of this summer’s bikini (quite honestly, it’s the bikini line wrangling I can’t be doing with these days – I don’t care what anyone else thinks about my bottom) then do as I have done and invest in a pair of board shorts as a cover up. I took a chance on a pair from Amazon which are exactly the right cut for me and ended up buying two pairs. I plan to wear them over a black and white one piece I’ve got and maybe a black bikini top or tankini. These are quite lightweight because they are quick-drying and I’m not sure I’d risk having nothing on underneath but otherwise they have ticked the bikini line box, the bottom box and the tummy box (which I do mind about a little bit). They’re £22.99 HERE.
